Joseph Carrabotta is a musician / artist from Columbia, SC. Being from a family with a history of career musicians & artists, music has always been a part of his life. In early childhood, his mother who served as a church Choir Director introduced him to music performance at age 3 by giving him a spot to sing on the Children’s Choir. These years helped form a love and appreciation for music while building foundational aural skills.

At age seven, Joseph’s father bought him a guitar and taught him the basics, while his mother began tutoring him in piano and prepared him for formal lessons when he turned eight. Carrabotta developed a passion for the guitar and piano as he was inspired to progress by his favorite musicians. This inspiration motivated him to practice daily for multiple hours on end. With an interest in creating, he began composing music at age 12. Joseph played violin in the school orchestra and won first place in multiple talent shows throughout middle school and high school.

He started teaching music lessons to his friends at age 14, and began his career in music with his first professional teaching job at age 18. Joseph has over 10 years experience as an instructor with over 2000 lessons taught. He has taught Guitar, Piano, Bass, Ukulele, Voice & Drums. His students have ranged from beginner to advanced; from age 5 to age 80.

Joseph's early interest with music composition led him to compose as well as record, mix, and master his first album at age 17.  The album had gained enough attention that it landed him a professional gig performing/ recording / touring with record label artist, Invoking the Abstract; making him a signed artist at age 20.

Joseph studied Music and Art at the University of South Carolina with concentrations in Music Theory, Jazz Guitar, Drawing, and Painting. He received certification for 'Fundamentals of Music Theory' from the University of Edinburgh, and 'Musicianship: Tensions, Harmonic Function, & Modal Interchange' from Berklee College of Music. He continues to study and practice as much as he can and always seeks out the next steps in his musical journey.
